Details and expertise of the project partners

Marta Coll

Marta Coll (MPAs, cumulative impacts, EBM, ETPs, pelagic fisheries). Senior researcher at ICM-CSIC. Her research focuses on understanding patterns and processes that have and will characterize marine ecosystems and changes of, and threats to, marine biodiversity.

She studies community and food-web dynamics linked with human activities (such as fisheries, eutrophication, invasive species and climate change), and how these translate into changes in ecosystem structure and functioning, and into services that humans obtain from the ocean. She has developed and applied a variety of ecological analyses based on ecosystem modelling techniques and statistical tools, and using historical data, experimental results and field data sets.

Miquel Ortega

Miquel Ortega (MPAs, cumulative impacts, demersal fisheries, pelagic fisheries, socioeconomics). Researcher at ICM-CSIC.

He works in different aspects of fisheries management and ecological economics. He has more than twenty years in this field. Currently working on assessing the impact of different fishing activities in the Mediterranean Sea from an integrated perspective, including the development of value chain analyses and their integration with ecosystem assessments.

Lucia Espasadin

Lucia Espasadin (cumulative impacts, climate change). Undergraduate studies in Biology.

Master’s program in Oceanography and Marine Environment Management at UB. Currently working within the iMARES research group at the Institute of Marine Sciences (ICM-CSIC), focusing on assessing the ecological and social effects of climate change in the Northwestern Mediterranean Sea. She employs a diverse range of methodologies and investigates various case studies, all within the framework of the FutureMARES and Ges4Seas European projects.
